1. Introduction
Life Hope LLC ("Life Hope," "we," "us," or "our"), a Utah limited liability company operating as a Private Membership Organization with its principal place of business in the State of Utah, USA, respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, protect, and retain personal information when you visit the Life Hope website (mylifehope.org) or use the Life Hope private membership platform (the "Life Hope Platform"). By using the Life Hope Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy works together with our Terms of Service, Code of Conduct, and Member Agreement. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Life Hope Platform.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
Supporting Members (those who send support):
- Email address (captured automatically from Stripe payment)
- Name (as provided on payment method, captured via Stripe)
- Payment card information (collected by Stripe, never stored on Life Hope servers)
- Optional password if you create a Life Hope account
- Optional name and photograph if you choose to share them with a profile
Receiving Members (those who receive support):
- Full legal name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Social Security Number (encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM)
- Government-issued ID information (where required for identity verification)
- Profile photograph
- Personal story or biographical information
- Language preference
- Payout method preference (bank account information for ACH deposit)
- Bank account or routing information (for direct deposit payouts)
- Responses to membership questionnaire
- Membership agreement acceptance records
- PIN (stored as a hash, never in plain text)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Life Hope Platform, we automatically collect:
- IP address
- Device type, operating system, and browser type
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website
- Date and time of visits
- Cookie identifiers (see Section 7)
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We receive limited information from third parties who help us operate the Life Hope Platform:
- Stripe provides us with transaction confirmations, payment details, donor email addresses, and fraud-prevention data
- Cloudflare provides us with DNS routing data and basic visitor analytics at the infrastructure level
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Life Hope Platform
- Process voluntary transfers between members
- Verify member identity and prevent fraud
- Issue Life Hope membership badges and QR codes
- Send receipt confirmations and account communications
- Respond to your questions, requests, and feedback
- Enforce our Terms of Service, Code of Conduct, and Member Agreement
- Comply with legal obligations (tax reporting, court orders, regulatory requests)
- Detect, investigate, and prevent unlawful activity, security incidents, and Code of Conduct violations
- Display public member profiles to supporting members for the purpose of facilitating voluntary transfers
We do not use your personal information for purposes unrelated to the Life Hope Platform without your consent.
4. How We Share Your Information
Life Hope does not sell your personal information to anyone. Life Hope does not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
4.1 With Service Providers (Subprocessors)
We share personal information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the Life Hope Platform. These service providers are contractually bound to protect your information and may only use it for the purposes we specify.

We may also use Cloudinary in the future for member photo storage and hosting. If Cloudinary becomes an active subprocessor, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect that change.
If we add new subprocessors in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy.
4.2 For Legal Compliance
We may disclose personal information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, or government requests
- Respond to subpoenas, warrants, or legal process
- Enforce our Terms of Service, Code of Conduct, or Member Agreement
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Life Hope, our members, or others
- Investigate suspected fraud or violations of law
4.3 In Connection with Business Transfers
If Life Hope is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. In such cases, we will notify members and ensure that the receiving party agrees to protect personal information consistent with this Privacy Policy.
4.4 With Your Consent
We may share personal information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.
5. Your Privacy Rights
All Life Hope members, regardless of state of residence, have the following rights regarding their personal information:
5.1 Right to Know
You have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which we collected it, the business purposes for which we use it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
5.2 Right to Access
You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
5.3 Right to Correct
You have the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
5.4 Right to Delete
You have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions (such as transaction records required by tax law).
5.5 Right to Opt Out
You have the right to opt out of any future use of your personal information for purposes you have not previously authorized.
5.6 Right to Non-Discrimination
Life Hope will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide you with a different level of quality based on your privacy choices.
5.7 How to Exercise These Rights
To exercise any of these rights, please email ourlifehope@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." Include:
- Your full name
- The email address associated with your Life Hope account
- The specific right you wish to exercise
- Any additional information that will help us locate your records
We will respond to your request within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests to protect against unauthorized access.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
6.1 Account Data
When a member voluntarily closes their account, or when Life Hope terminates a membership, we delete the account holder's personal information within 30 days of termination. This includes name, address, phone number, email, SSN, photograph, story, bank account details, and other profile data.
6.2 Transaction Records
We retain transaction records (donation amounts, dates, fee breakdowns, and pseudonymous transaction identifiers) for seven (7) years as required by US tax and financial recordkeeping laws (IRS retention requirements). After seven years, transaction records are deleted.
6.3 Legal Hold
If Life Hope is subject to a legal hold (subpoena, court order, regulatory investigation, or pending litigation), we may retain affected records for longer than the periods above, as required to comply with the legal obligation.
6.4 Anonymized Data
We may retain anonymized or aggregated data (data that cannot be linked to any individual) indefinitely for analytical, statistical, or operational purposes.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
7.1 What We Use
The Life Hope Platform uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
Essential cookies (required for the Life Hope Platform to function):
lh-donor-cookie— Maintains your supporting member session after your first transfer, so we can recognize you on return visitslh-admin-session— Authenticates Life Hope administrative users; not applicable to members or donors- Stripe cookies — Set by Stripe during checkout for fraud prevention, security, and payment processing
Analytics cookies (planned, not yet active):
- Google Analytics — When activated, will collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, time on page, approximate location (city/region from IP), device type, and referrer. This data helps us understand how members use the Life Hope Platform so we can improve it. Google Analytics data is collected and processed by Google, Inc. under Google's privacy policy.
Marketing cookies: Life Hope does not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies.
7.2 Your Choices
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through browser settings. You can choose to block all cookies, accept all cookies, or be notified before a cookie is set. Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from using core features of the Life Hope Platform.
For Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data from being collected.
8. Data Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures, including:
- Encryption in transit — All data transmitted between your device and Life Hope is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher
- Encryption at rest — Sensitive data including Social Security Numbers is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM
- Password security — Passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes (bcrypt), never in plain text
- PIN security — Member PINs are stored as cryptographic hashes, never in plain text
- Access controls — Personal information is accessible only to authorized Life Hope personnel who need it to perform their duties
- No card storage — Payment card information is collected and stored by Stripe, not by Life Hope
Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at ourlifehope@gmail.com.
9. Children's Privacy
The Life Hope Platform is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
If we discover that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will:
- Immediately delete the account and all associated personal information
- Refund any pending or held transactions
- Notify the registered email address of the action taken

10. International Users
Life Hope is a US-based platform intended for residents of the United States. We do not currently accept members or transactions from outside the United States.
If you access the Life Hope Platform from outside the United States, please understand that your personal information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. By using the Life Hope Platform, you consent to this transfer and processing.
11. Third-Party Links
The Life Hope Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you visit.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by:
- Posting the updated Privacy Policy on the Life Hope website
- Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
- Notifying members by email when changes materially affect their rights
Your continued use of the Life Hope Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
13. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is no industry-standard interpretation of DNT signals at this time, and the Life Hope Platform does not currently respond to DNT signals.
