Preamble

This Member Agreement ("Agreement") is a binding contract between you and Life Hope LLC ("Life Hope"), a Utah limited liability company operating as a Private Membership Organization. By accepting this Agreement, you voluntarily join Life Hope as a private member and agree to the terms below.

This Agreement works together with the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Code of Conduct. All four documents together govern your membership.

By accepting this Agreement, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to all four documents.

Agreement Terms

1. Membership. I understand that Life Hope is a Private Membership Organization, not a charity, money transmitter, or commercial payment platform. My membership provides me with a platform to send or receive voluntary gifts between members through the Life Hope Platform. Detailed terms are set forth in the Life Hope Terms of Service.

2. Fees. I authorize Life Hope to deduct a 3% service fee from each gift received on my behalf (corporate operational use, not a charitable contribution). Card processing fees charged by Stripe are additional and are either added to the supporting member's total or deducted from the gift before payout, depending on the supporting member's selection at checkout.

3. Payouts. I understand that funds sent to me are routed by Stripe, the payment processor, into a Stripe connected account in my name. Stripe (not Life Hope) sets payout timing and pays out on a daily schedule. I understand that my first payout is held by Stripe's standard risk policy, typically up to 7 days and sometimes longer (this applies one time, to my first payout only); after that, payouts run daily. Money typically takes a few business days to reach my bank after each payout, and weekends or US federal banking holidays may add time. Life Hope does not hold my funds and adds no fee on top of Stripe's beyond the disclosed service fee. Stripe's published payout policies apply.

4. Conduct and Directive Authority. I agree to conduct myself in accordance with the Life Hope Code of Conduct, including engaging only in passive solicitation when displaying my Life Hope membership badge in public. I authorize Life Hope to deduct the disclosed service fee from each gift received on my behalf and to configure the Stripe connected-account payout schedule at the platform level. My funds are routed by Stripe directly into my connected account and are paid out by Stripe on its own schedule; Life Hope does not hold, custody, schedule the disbursement of, or control my funds at any point. I understand Life Hope may direct Stripe to restrict my connected account in cases of Code of Conduct violations or suspected fraud. Nothing in this authorization constitutes custody, holding, or control of my funds by Life Hope within the meaning of money transmitter or money services business laws.

5. Flagging. I understand that supporting members and members of the public may report conduct concerns to Life Hope. Life Hope reviews all reports with human judgment — there are no automatic bans.

6. Discretionary Enforcement. I understand that violations of the Code of Conduct or this Agreement may result in enforcement actions including written warnings, temporary suspension, pause on payouts, permanent termination, forfeiture of pending transfers, referral to law enforcement, or civil action. Life Hope determines appropriate enforcement actions at its sole discretion based on factors including severity, intent, pattern of behavior, harm caused, member cooperation, member history, available evidence, and legal implications. I may submit a single written appeal of any enforcement action within 14 days. Life Hope's final determination is binding.

7. Truthful Information. I confirm that the information I provided during registration is truthful and accurate, including my legal name, contact information, photograph, and personal story. My photograph is a recent, true likeness of me taken within the past 12 months. I understand that my sensitive information (including any Social Security Number and bank details) is encrypted and stored securely as described in the Privacy Policy. I will promptly update my profile if any of this information materially changes.

8. Voluntary Participation. I understand my membership is voluntary and I may leave Life Hope at any time by contacting ourlifehope@gmail.com. Upon termination, my account data will be deleted within 30 days as described in the Privacy Policy. Transaction records will be retained for 7 years as required by tax law.

9. Graduation. I understand that Life Hope is intended as a temporary bridge, not a permanent destination. I am encouraged to work toward self-sufficiency and graduation from the program.

10. State Availability. Life Hope offers receiving membership only in US states where Life Hope has opened operations (the current list is published at mylifehope.org/eligible-states). Supporting members may reside in any US state. By accepting this Agreement, I confirm that I meet the residency requirement applicable to my member type. If I am a receiving member and I move to a state where Life Hope is not currently available, I will notify Life Hope promptly. Life Hope does not currently accept members or transactions from outside the United States.

11. Tax and Benefits Responsibility. I understand and accept the following:

  • Gifts received through Life Hope are personal voluntary transactions, not charitable donations
  • Gifts received are not tax-deductible
  • I am solely responsible for determining the tax treatment of gifts received and filing any required tax returns
  • Stripe may issue IRS Form 1099-K to me if my annual gift volume exceeds reporting thresholds
  • I am solely responsible for understanding how gifts received may affect any government benefits I receive, including but not limited to SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, TANF, housing assistance, and other means-tested programs
  • Life Hope does not provide tax, legal, financial, or benefits advice
  • I am encouraged to consult my own tax professional, benefits caseworker, or free resources such as the IRS VITA program

12. Acceptance of All Life Hope Documents. By accepting this Agreement, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to all four Life Hope documents: this Member Agreement, the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Code of Conduct. I understand that all four documents together form the complete agreement between me and Life Hope, and that they supersede any prior agreements or understandings.

Acceptance

By checking the acceptance box during registration, or by otherwise indicating my acceptance of this Agreement, I confirm that:

  • I have read this Agreement in full
  • I have read the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Code of Conduct
  • I am at least 18 years of age
  • I am a resident of the United States
  • I am providing truthful information
  • I voluntarily agree to be bound by all four documents
